Timeline:
1893 – William E. Ryan introduced his poultry business, W.E. Ryan Company, located at the new Reading Terminal Market in Philadelphia.
1894 – 1949 W.E. Ryan was run by William and his son, John Ryan, who operated the business at the Terminal.
1949 – W.E. Ryan Company moved to 2nd & Buttonwood just in time before the Terminal Market went on the decline. John built up the business from retail to wholesale distribution.
1957 – Francis Campanale begins working for the company and grows familiar with the business.
1961 – Rose and Joseph Campanale, Frank and Lawrence Sr.’s parents, bought the company from the Ryan Family for their sons.
1962 – Francis Campanale and Lawrence Campanale, Sr. took control upon the business upon John passing away and grew the business together. They immediately began building a reputation of excellence and quality service.
1972 – The company moved to 2325 North American Street, a more modern facility to suit the growing needs of the customers in the greater Tri-State area.
Today – W.E. Ryan Co. remains family-owned and family-operated over three generated by Francis Campanale and Lawrence Campanale, Jr. with experienced and dedicated team members across production, operations, sales, service and more.
